Montréal Casino & Hotel

Montréal, Québec, Canada

Montréal Casino & Hotel stands on Île Notre-Dame, an island in the Saint Lawrence built up for Expo 67. The main structure is the former French pavilion of that exhibition, with the Québec pavilion of the same year joined to it. This guide describes the address as a hotel and resort; the casino floor is not covered here.

The pavilion keeps its stepped, angular exterior and its central atrium. Inside there are several restaurants, a cabaret hall used for live programmes, and terraces facing the river and the city skyline. The island around the building is a park, laid out with paths and with water on both sides.

Ask about access from the mainland, since the island is reached by bridge and by a separate transit stop. Entry rules, hours for the restaurants and the schedule of the cabaret hall change through the year and should be confirmed directly before travel.

Fallsview Casino Resort

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Fallsview Casino Resort is built into the slope above the Niagara gorge, on the Canadian side of the falls. The hotel occupies the upper storeys, and its public floors are cut into the hillside below street level. As elsewhere in this part of the guide, the address is described as a hotel and resort, and the casino floor is left out.

The complex holds a theatre used for concerts, a spa, an indoor promenade lined with shops and several restaurants. Glass walls on the north side face the water, and a covered walkway joins the resort to neighbouring buildings. Guest floors sit above the promenade level, reached by lifts from the main hall.

Confirm which side a room faces, as the outlook differs sharply between the water side and the town side. Theatre dates, spa hours and restaurant openings are set by the resort and change through the year, so ask in writing rather than assuming a published schedule still holds.

River Rock Casino Resort

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

River Rock Casino Resort sits beside the Fraser River in Richmond, south of Vancouver and close to the airport. The hotel is one part of a larger resort that also holds a marina on the water. A rail line into the city runs past the site. This guide treats the address as a hotel and resort only; the casino floor is not described.

The resort includes a concert hall used for touring programmes, a spa, and a row of restaurants along the ground floor. Rooms are split between a hotel tower and a lower wing. The riverside frontage carries a walkway and moorings, and the airport lies a few minutes away by road.

Ask which building a room stands in, since the tower and the lower wing differ in layout and in distance from the entrance. Programme dates for the concert hall, spa hours and shuttle arrangements to the airport are all worth confirming with the resort before arrival.

Casino Rama Resort

Rama, Ontario, Canada

Casino Rama Resort stands on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, near Orillia in central Ontario. The resort was developed on those lands and the hotel forms one wing of the complex. In keeping with the rest of this part of the guide, the address is set out as a hotel and resort, and the casino floor is not described.

The site holds a large entertainment hall used for concerts, a spa, meeting rooms and a set of restaurants. Buildings are low and spread across the grounds rather than stacked in a tower. Lake Couchiching lies a short distance away, the surrounding land is wooded, and parking sits at ground level.

Ask the resort about transport, because the site lies outside the town and public routes are limited. Entertainment hall dates, restaurant hours and spa openings are set locally and change through the year, so it is worth writing ahead rather than relying on a listing.
